We have a new and improved online registration system. Members will notice immediately a more integrated design, with a more convenient online experience for the member. Also, in response to the requests of many of our members, for the first time, the Royals is offering online registration for House League as well. For our members with players in both house league and competitive leagues, this change will mean one invoice from the Ottawa Royals with all of your registration costs. Youth competitive plaeyrs registered before March 1 enjoy a $25 early-bird discount. Seniors must register by March 31. After April 30 there is a $50 late registration fee. 2012 Registration Fees frozen at 2011 rates, but ...
The Ottawa Royals are a community, volunteer organization along with two paid staff all of whom are dedicated to the pursuit of soccer excellence and enjoyment of the game through the principles of Long Term Player Development. As a result, we not only offer some of the lowest fees in the City, we also offer strong developmental play under the direction of Fred Juett, the technical director for the Ottawa Royals. Some new supplementary fees were adopted by the members at the October AGM.
 
Volunteer Opt-out Fee: Many members take the time out of their busy schedules to volunteer for the Royals, however, for some, volunteering is just not an option. For those members, the Royals are offering a volunteer opt-out fee of $40.
  
Infrastructure Fee: As a City club, with limited access to fields, it is imperative for the Royals to seek out new arrangements for more permanent field space.  As a result, the members approved a new $20 infrastructure fee to be added to the registration of each competitive youth and senior player's registration. 
  
House League: As well, for those house league members who still wish to submit their registration form via paper instead of online, this option will continue to be offered at Dovercourt, but paper registrations will cost $20 more in registration.


 

Refund Policy - Indoor 2011-12

Refunds of fees paid are not available after the start of the league or program except in the event of a season ending injury. Anyone requesting a refund due to an injury must submit a request in writing along with a doctor's certificate. Refunds will be pro-rated based on number of games (sessions) remaining. OSA fees and club administration fees are non-refundable.
 
Requests for refunds prior to the commencement of the league or program must be received in writing (emails are acceptable notice) and are subject to a $30 administration fee. In most cases a refund will not be available unless a replacement on the team can be found.

Youth House League Registration

New for 2012

Online registration now available for house league.

Manual registrations is also available at the Dovercourt Recreation Centre (DRA), beginning in February. Note there is a $20 surcharge to register offline.

Why Must I Register Before Tryouts

The most important reason for being registered prior to tryouts is to make sure all players are covered by the Ontario Soccer Association's insurance. As volunteer coaches, managers and club executive none of us want to expose ourselves to a potential lawsuit if an unregistered player is injured or worse during tryouts.

The best way to make sure everyone is covered is to make sure everyone is registered.

Ottawa Royals Soccer Club Policies on Refunds, Tryouts, Playing up and Equipment

  1. Application
    1. The policies outlined herein apply to all members, parents of youth members, officials, coaches, managers, executives, directors or any other party who represents the Ottawa Royals Soccer Club (the “Ottawa Royals”, or the “Club”).
  1. Tryouts
    1. The Ottawa Royals Soccer Club strives to develop players according to the Long Term Player Development (“LTPD”) principles. As a result, the Club encourages players to try out for the level of team that best fits their abilities and will work with each player to maximize their development at all levels of competitive play.
    2. Players may attend the first top level tryout; players may be asked after that tryout to try out for the next level team. Every player will have at least three hours of tryout time in total.
    3. Tryouts are scheduled in order of level of teams, with an age group’s highest level team beginning in late February/early March. All tryouts for all levels, with the exception of Adult/senior teams, are to be completed by mid-April. Levels of teams, i.e., L3, L4, L5 and L6 follow LTPD principles in accordance with Eastern Ontario District (EODSA) and Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) guidelines.
    4. Parmar Futuro Academy teams in the U9, U10 and U11 groups will have tryouts scheduled in late February/early March.
    5. Underage players need to be in the top third of the highest ranked team in the older age group to be permitted to be placed on the older age group team. Any team with underaged players trying out must have independent assessors assist in team selection.
    6. Any team with one or more players trying out who is the son or daughter of the coaching staff must have independent assessors assist in team selection.
    7. Other independent assessments will be done at the discretion of the Board of the Ottawa Royals.
    8. All teams will conduct a minimum of three hours of tryouts. A coach may schedule additional tryouts as necessary.
    9. All players must attend all tryouts to which they are assigned. A player may miss one tryout session due to illness or other reason agreed to by the parent and team coach.
    10. Senior and adult level tryouts will be completed by mid May.
  1. Refunds
    1. The Ottawa Royals is a volunteer organization that strives to keep its fees affordable in order to encourage the greatest possible participation of players.
    2. Refund requests must be made in writing to the Club Registrar (registrar@ottawaroyals.com) and will be accorded as follows:
      1. Any player who tries out and does not make a competitive Club team and declines to play House League will be refunded their registration fee minus $40 for the cost of tryouts, and $30 for administration costs. Players that accept a house league spot will have the difference to two fees refunded to them, minus the tryout fee only.
      2. Any player who tries out and does not accept an offer made to him or her to play on a competitive Club team will receive a refund of 50% of their fees, minus $40 for the tryout cost and $30 for administration costs.
      3. Any player that withdraws after having first accepted to play for a Club team registered with the EODSA and OSA shall not be entitled to a refund of membership fees.
      4. A player who needs to withdraw for medical reasons, or who moves out of the EODSA district before July 1, is entitled to a pro-rated refund based on number of games remaining in the regular summer season. Withdrawals from indoor (winter) leagues and programs shall not be refunded.
      5. Other in-season refund requests will be considered by the Board of the Ottawa Royals.
  1. Playing as a Call Up:
    1. Playing up should be encouraged when appropriate for development purposes.
    2. Players will encouraged, when necessary, to play up within their own age group.
    3. Players from younger age groups may also be called to play up to an older age group team, subject to team requirements and agreement between the respective coaches.
  1. Equipment
    1. Registration fees include:
      1. one pair of shorts and soccer socks for the registrant to keep
      2. a loan of two sets of jerseys (home and away) subject to a $50 deposit via post-dated cheque. Uniforms will not be distributed to teams that have not collected a deposit for each uniform. Both jerseys must be returned to the club at the end of the season. Failure to do so will entitle the Club to cash the cheque to recover the cost of the missing jersey(s) and to recover the administrative costs of doing so. Uncashed cheques will otherwise be destroyed or returned based upon the preference/acceptance of the member.
